The percentage of Americans who are obese and heavy is

Center for Health Statistics, 56% of the population was fat
during the reporting period from 1988 through 1994, and 23%
was obese. During the period from 1999 through 2002, these
shares had raised to 65% and 30%, respectively.

work in the long run, but of even more concern is the strong
