About Eyelid Surgery

Our eyes are referred to as the windows of the soul and we
often feel ill at ease when we meet someone who will not
meet us eye to eye. Knowing how attractive we find other
peoples eyes is one of the reasons this area of cosmetic
surgery has become popular because we want our eyes to stay
attractive. Once corrected, baggy eyelids, crow's feet and
dark areas under the eyes, an individual will look
considerably more attractive.
It's true that most men and women get to a point when they
consider cosmetic eyelid surgery. Eyelid treatment can make
you look younger and more alive.
The correct term for eyelid surgery is Blepharoplasty and it
is the re-shaping of the eyelid. Droopy eyelids and bags
under the eyes can make you look tired, even when you are
not and this is another area that cosmetic eye and eyelid
surgery corrects.
The muscle supporting the droopy eyelid (called Ptosis)
needs to be tightened in a surgical procedure so it is
elevated and secured. A brow lift is a similar procedure
which tightens the loose skin above and around the eyebrow
but has the advantage of pulling up the bags below the eye
making you look more youthful.
As a significant aid to vision, eyelid surgery is a benefit
and the top consideration of adults aged 51 to 64. Most
often a droopy eyelid is due to laxity in upper eyelid skin.
A surgical procedure carried out on the eyelid doesn't
usually carry a scar because the skin is so thin.
Unfortunately though, operations on the upper eyelid can
cause bruising and swelling not long after surgery. The fat
and muscle layers behind the eyelid are often removed if the
patient has a heavy and swollen eyelid.
Not everyone jumps at the chance to have eyelid surgery and
some individuals are considering using collagen or one of
its alternatives injected instead. Not all eyelid surgery is
a success and in these cases to improve the definition
around the eye and eyelid area, permanent makeup or Micro
pigmentation treatment is used. Another use of Micro
pigmentation is how it can alter the look of an eye to make
it look more symmetrical without any need for surgery.
Other points should be considered before any eye surgery
takes place, for instance does the patient heal quickly, are
they prone to bad bruising and what level of care their
eyelids will receive after the operation. - 15668
