Don't Mix Unsafe Cosmetics And Teenage Girls

Most people don't know that there are many big brand
cosmetics that contain nasty or downright dangerous
ingredients. There is now a study showing the effect of
dangerous cosmetics on teenage girls, that might prompt you
to look for safe cosmetics next time you shop.
A recent study found lead in lipsticks. Over 50% of
lipsticks tested had lead in them and there are other nasty
and unsafe ingredients in our cosmetics.
Isn't lead really dangerous? Yes it is and it shouldn't be
in our lipsticks, but the FDA doesn't regulate it so it's
there. And it's the same with skin care products and anti
aging products and personal and body care and beauty
products too.
And when we use these products the ingredients soak in don't
they? And so they go straight into our bloodstream. When you
put on that blush or rouge some of it goes into our blood.
That's because our skin is porous and what we put onto it
soaks in and ends up in our bodies rather than just on our
skin. Moisturizers, for example, are rubbed in a disappear.
Where do they go but into our system? Ok if they are
harmless, but what if they're not?
And now a new study has begun to ask whether our teenage
daughters should be using some cosmetics. The Campaign for
Safe Cosmetics tells us the results of the study.
"Laboratory tests reveal adolescent girls across America are
contaminated with chemicals commonly used in cosmetics and
body care products."
Now does that scare you if you have daughters? And of
course teenage girls use more cosmetics than just about
anyone else.
And now there's a study by the Environmental Working Group
which found suspect chemicals (phthalates, parabens,
triclosan and musks) in the urine of young girls from 14 to
20 who took part in the study.
Some of these were found in the body of every single girls
tested in the study.
Adolescence, of course, is a time when the maturing female
body is growing fast and dealing with hormonal changes, and
girls of this age do not want to be loading their bodies
with potentially toxic chemicals.
The chemicals tested for are considered to be hormone
altering chemicals, and so it raises some questions about
the implications of teenage girls using cosmetics and skin
care products and also possibly acne treatments where there
is a good chance they could be loading their systems with
these chemicals.
No one knows what the implications are but it's an area of
reproductive health that we shouldn't be playing with.
Either way, do we want our children taking these unknown
risks with common cosmetics and skincare and other personal
and body care products?
That may worry you, but there is a safe alternative. There
are excellent companies making safe cosmetics that are very
effective, and safe and effective skin care products as
well, neither of which contain any dangerous chemicals.
But these aren't the big brand name companies, they're small
niche companies that can't possibly compete with the big
brands on marketing, and don't try, so you never see them
advertising on TV. And you won't find any of their products
on the shelf of your local store.
But you need to search to find them, if you do there are
excellent companies making safe cosmetics and very effective
natural skin care products.
So don't take risks with your daughters health. Use top
shelf safe cosmetics and highly effective skin care products
and make sure you or your daughter aren't using products
with dangerous ingredients in them. - 15668
